TSONGA FIGHTS BACK

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga displayed his fighting attitude in his third round match in the Sony Open tennis tournament yesterday.

The Frenchman was up against Marcos Baghdatis of Greece who was giving him a very hard time, but, somehow, he hung in there fighting and in the crucial third set, he managed to get all over his opponent and won the contest eventually to make his way into the round of 16.

Talking to the reporters after the match, Tsonga said, “Tennis is a wonderful game and that’s the reason why. You are never out of it. If you are determined enough, you can pull it off from any situation and thankfully, that’s what I managed to do today.”

Tsonga looked much pumped up after his win. He screamed hard and punched the air in delight. One can understand that as he had to work immensely hard for that win. In conditions which were not the best for a long match, he put in his 100% effort.

Tsonga has won quite a few singles trophies in his career, but, not any major one and that’s a little surprising considering the kind of player he is. He is a classy player and has got some power too. He has got all the shots, but, he still doesn’t go through all the way in big tournaments.
This is an opportunity for him to win his maiden major title. The upcoming rounds will be hard, but, he is capable enough. The only thing that he needs to do is to show the determination that he showed yesterday.

Next in Tsonga’s way is Andy Murray who is a great player. But, it’s not impossible for the Frenchman to defeat him and knock him out of the tournament; that’s for sure.
